Finike Mayor Mustafa Geyikçi has reacted strongly to the allegations recently and deliberately circulated to the public, which distort the truth.
Stating that the process is operating in a fully lawful manner and that there is no intention to cause grievance to any tradespeople, Finike Mayor Mustafa Geyikçi emphasized that the eviction process carried out regarding municipal properties is a completely legal and routine practice, stating:
“The allegations put forward clearly distort the truth. Lease agreements for commercial properties owned by our municipality are concluded for specific terms, and properties whose lease terms have expired are re-tendered as a legal obligation. This is not a practice unique to today; it is a legally mandated process that has been implemented for years.”
“THIS IS NOT A CLOSURE, IT IS A LEGAL OBLIGATION”
Noting that presenting the action taken regarding the business in question as a “closure” is a deliberate perception campaign, Mayor Geyikçi said, “An eviction notice was sent for a property whose lease term expires on April 14, 2026. This action is a standard practice carried out not only for this specific location but for all properties whose lease terms have expired. Describing this as a ‘closure’ is either ignorance or a deliberate distortion.”
Underlining that no one is victimized at the end of this process, Mayor Geyikçi said, “These properties are re-tendered. Anyone, including the current occupant, can enter the tender. The winning bidder continues their business operations. In other words, there is neither punishment nor exclusion. The process is highly transparent and clear.”
“THEY ARE EXPLOITING A MANDATORY PRACTICE FOR ELECTION PURPOSES”
Pointing out that the statements are linked to the upcoming AESOB election process in the coming days, Mustafa Geyikçi said, “Those who come forward today and try to distort this process are ignoring a truth that everyone knows. These actions are mandatory procedures carried out every three years. Unfortunately, however, these statements are baseless allegations seeking to create a false impression ahead of the election.” Pointing out that the statements made do not reflect the truth in any way, Mayor Geyikçi added, “The statements made by AESOB President Adlıhan Dere do not reflect the truth. There is no ‘closure’ and no ‘punishment’. There is only a municipality fulfilling the requirements of the law. No official of any institution would carry out an unlawful action. We are doing nothing more and nothing less than what the law requires.”
“WE DELIVER SERVICES; WE DO NOT DISCRIMINATE OR SHOW FAVORITISM”
Finike Mayor Mustafa Geyikçi concluded his remarks with the following words:
“As Finike Municipality, we have never treated anyone based on their political views, nor will we ever do so. Our focus is not on controversy, but on public service. No one should attempt to mislead the public by distorting our municipality's lawful practices. The facts are clear.”
